What Is Difference Between Flavour And Fragrance?

Flavour and fragrance are two terms that are often used interchangeably, but they are actually quite different. While they both involve the sense of smell, they are used to describe different aspects of the aroma of a food or beverage.

Flavour is the combination of taste and aroma that we experience when eating or drinking something. Taste is the sensation that is experienced when the chemical compounds in food or drink interact with receptors on the tongue. Aroma is the pleasant or unpleasant smell that is released when a food or drink is consumed. When combined, the taste and aroma of a food or drink form its overall flavour.

Fragrance, on the other hand, is the scent of a food or drink that is released before it is consumed. Fragrance is the smell that is perceived through the nose before the food or drink even enters the mouth. The fragrance of a food or drink is determined by the volatile compounds that are released from the food or drink as it cooks or steeps.

Flavour and fragrance are both important elements in the overall experience of eating or drinking something. They both play a role in determining the overall taste and aroma of a food or drink. However, flavour is the combination of taste and aroma that is experienced when a food or drink is consumed, while fragrance is the scent that is released before it is consumed.
